Application Declined? You have 30 days to request reconsideration by calling 1-888-609-7805. If you call the same day you applied, there won’t be another hard credit check. Keep in mind, if it's due to the Chase 5/24 rule, they likely won’t reconsider.
Approval Rules: Chase typically declines if you’ve opened 5 new credit cards in the last 24 months. They usually approve up to 2 Chase cards within 30 days, counting business and personal cards separately. Read more about the Chase 5/24 rule and how to review your report.
When applying for a new credit card, keep your balances below 10% of your limit on each existing card. Pay down balances and wait for each card's closing date, avoiding new charges. Some banks let you update balances anytime by phone, and Chase will automatically report a $0 balance after payment.
